Amanda and I are striking out in a new direction with our honey. We will be at the EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival at BC Place next month, in the Canadian Artisan Food Pavilion artisanal food section sponsored by Edible Canada.
We are absolutely excited about this opportunity and have been spending many sleepless nights trying to think of all the ways to organize ourselves for this show.
We’ve ordered ouir pull-up banner, designed and printed recipe cards and tips for cooking with honey, and bottled the rest of our supply of honey. We’ve tried to design a stand that will be attractive and functional and shows off our artisanal products.
For a fun attraction, we’re also bringing an observation hive with a frame of bees, honey and brood, and we’re pressing into service our honorary royalty, a lovely queen bee, to keep everyone in line.
Among the products we’re bringing are our two award-winning honeys from 2014, our 1000 Blossoms, which won first place in golden honey at the B.C. Honey Producers Association contest. We’re also bringing our Harvest Moon, our popular late-season richly flavourful amber honey, which also won first place in its category.
And as a special addition to the show, we’re bringing a few cases of our Fireweed Honey, produced in the Okanagan by a colleague. it is almost clear white and when set against the other two, brings out the colours of all three.
We’ll be at Booth #12 at BC Place, starting May 1. Make sure you drop by and sample some of our honey!
